Mahé Perrette is a climate scientist and independent consultant with fifteen years of experience, including ten years of research at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). His work focuses on probabilistic climate projections — using observations of the past to constrain the future — with expertise in Bayesian modelling, sea-level rise, Earth System Model analysis and scientific programming. Over his career he has worked on topics ranging from remote sensing of ocean biology to physical modelling of Greenland glaciers and reconstruction of past climates.

He is the author of numerous scientific publications, co-authored the sea-level sections of the World Bank’s Turn Down the Heat report series, and was a contributing author to the IPCC AR5 report (chapter 13, sea level). He consults as a climate scientist and programmer for organizations including Climate Analytics, IISD, PIK, AWI and GIZ, and maintains several open-source projects. Mahé holds MSc degrees in engineering and in oceanography, and is based in southern Italy.
